The fourth Chakra, "Anahata" bridges the Earthly and the Divine. The three chakras below the heart represent our physical state while those at and above the heart represent our spiritual states of power. The biggest aspect of the heart chakra is unconditional love and trust of others. The ability to love freely, without fear or self-consciousness manifests here. The Anahata is the center of our emotional power and is located in the center of the chest. The heart chakra colour is green and its association is with the element of air, resonating to the musical note of F. The corresponding gland is the thymus. The heart chakra is about pure love, compassion, acceptance, and respect, even grief. This is the center of our spiritual, divine essence. The affirmation is "I Love". This chakra can pick up the soul quality of a person and can bring peace and understanding. If the heart chakra is blocked, love is prevented from flourishing. Giving and receiving love in relationships are key issues of this chakra. When we are blocked in this center we may feel unworthy of love or that we are not good enough. We are unable to receive the love or the support from others and begin to harbor feelings of vulnerable. We are afraid to open up our heart. We may even be bitter, pessimistic and hold grudges. Our basic need should be of giving and receiving. We increase the energy of this chakra when we love others and ourselves unconditionally. We move into forgiveness, compassion and seek harmony. We give freely of the self and come to understand Divine love and move into the awareness of the Unity of all life. It is mainly from this chakra that we can transform and heal our patterns of expression and promise ourselves to love deeply and spiritually.
