The third chakra is our personal power center and represents the Divine Sun. This is where our identity is formed and is located in the middle abdomen, at the base of the ribs. We must mature in our self-understanding, the relationship we have with ourselves with nurturing and love. This Chakra color is yellow and associated with the element of fire and resonates to the musical note of E. The gland association is the pancreas. The Manipura is associated with our power, prosperity, will and intuition. It governs our intellectual self. It is our "mental-self" with the affirmation "I can". Our power center is a clearinghouse for incoming and outgoing vibrations and feelings. Intuitively speaking it is our "gut feeling about people." This is where emotional blockages occur. We drain our energy when we slip into the victim role, feel powerless, manipulated by people and have unclear boundaries set with others. By not standing up to people we give our power away. Repressed anger can be held in this chakra because our boundaries are constantly being violated. If we are controlling or find ourselves under the authority of someone else's control we need to move out of this pattern and find the path of healing.
We accumulate energy when we have a high self-esteem, take back our power, assume responsibility, move out of blame and operate from integrity.
Strengths and Attributes: vitality, wisdom, awareness, self-discipline, self-esteem, ambition, strength of character and will and the courage to take risks.
The spiritual aspect is of our self-worth and valuing the needs of our self.
